The electroplating process copper plating offers many advantages and can be used on various metals. These include steel, stainless steel, brass, aluminum, and die-cast zinc. Having metals copper plated offers numerous benefits. For example, galvanic copper plating not only increases protection against corrosion, but also improves electrical conductivity. In addition, copper plating can prevent tribo-oxidation of the metal (fretting corrosion).
Carrier materials:
- Iron and steel alloys
- Non-ferrous metals
- Aluminum
Properties:
- decorative appearance
- good electrical conductivity
- corrosion protection
Application:
- decorative surfaces
- Intermediate layer on many base materials for subsequent coatings
- Intermediate layer – mechanically polished – for the highest demands in terms of appearance and corrosion protection
- Improvement of conductivity, reduction of contact resistance in electrically used parts
